Organizational Portal

The organization portal contains the self-assessment, quality performance roadmap and performance measurement tools. The self-assessment is a structured process that client organizations use to identify strengths and areas for improvement, based on Accreditation Canada International’s internationally recognized standards.

During the self-assessment, client organization staff assesses performance against the standards of excellence by completing an anonymous online questionnaire. The number of self-assessment questionnaires an organization is required to administer depends on its size and scope of services. Each set of standards has an associated self-assessment questionnaire.

Questionnaires usually take about 30 to 45 minutes to fill out, and staff are asked to complete them individually. As many staff as possible are encouraged to participate, to provide a more comprehensive picture of the organization’s operations.

Through this process, organizations identify areas requiring review and follow-up, and develop and prioritize action plans to address follow up items. The self-assessment enables organizations to focus on its own priorities and initiatives.

Organizations’ self-assessment results are kept confidential for the organization's use only.

Quality Performance Roadmap

The data from the self-assessment questionnaire is used to develop the client’s Quality Performance Roadmap. In the Quality Performance Roadmap, self-assessment results are marked with green, yellow, or red flags. This helps organizations to focus on areas requiring attention (yellow and red flags), and to develop and prioritize quality improvement activities.

Self Assessment Flags

High-priority areas have been identified based on Accreditation Canada International’s extensive accreditation experience, literature reviews, best practices, and expert consultation. For a high-priority area to receive a green flag, a substantial majority of client organization staff must indicate that practices in the organization comply with the standards.

Green flags identify areas that, based on the data collected, do not require improvement.
Yellow flags identify areas where some improvement may be required. These areas should be compared against the standards to identify where improvement efforts may be needed.
Red flags identify areas where significant improvement is required. Organizations need to compare these areas to the standards to determine where there are gaps between the standard and the organization’s practices.
